Want to get away to the Caribbean, but don’t have a passport? Some destinations are more accessible than you may think! Because Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are US territories, US citizens do not need passports to enter. Here are the 4 Caribbean islands where a vacation full of crystal blue water, white sand beaches and gorgeous tropical climate are just a driver’s license away.

Puerto Rico: With 20+ US cities offering direct flights, this island is one of the easiest to get to in the entire Caribbean. Puerto Rico is abundant in culture and diverse in its geography. Nature lovers can experience the island’s 3 bioluminescent bays, 270+ miles of coastline, gorgeous beaches, and of course, El Yunque Rainforest. For those interested in culture, Old San Juan and Ponce offer some of the most interesting history and architecture one can find.

St. Thomas: St. Thomas is the most cosmopolitan of the US Virgin Islands, offering its visitors tons of shopping, dining and nightlife options. Charlotte Amalie’s history and culture is balanced out by some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, like Magens Bay. Across the island, snorkeling, diving and boating activities are endless, making St. Thomas a water activities haven.

St. John: With two-thirds of the island being covered by a protected national park, St. John is known for its natural beauty and pristine beaches. Travelers can access the island by boat from St. Thomas or St. Croix and spend on a day on the beautiful shores of Trunk Bay or stay overnight at one of the gorgeous resorts.

St. Croix: St. Croix, the largest of the USVI, is one you don’t want to miss! It is the perfect destination for those who seek a combination of tranquility and adventure. Whether you want to visit the Cruzan Rum Factory, go scuba diving or bar hop around Divi Beach, St. Croix has something for everyone. Read up on St. Croix activities for every type of traveler.
