    by Nicole Introcaso

Pristine beaches, untouched ecosystems and natural landscapes make the Caribbean a nature lover’s dream come true. Different environments across the islands allow for exotic and unique wildlife experiences that attract travelers from around the globe. Learn where you can have once-in-a-lifetime interactions with fascinating and friendly animals in various Caribbean destinations.

    1. Flamingos in Aruba: If you want to watch a postcard scene come to life, head to Flamingo Beach in Aruba. Situated on the privately-owned Renaissance Island, visitors can enjoy spectacular views of flamingos while lounging on a white sand beach. Guests of the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino have free access to the island and its amenities. Non-guests can purchase a day pass to the island for $99. Escape from the hustle and bustle in Aruba and experience these graceful animals in action.

    2. Sea Turtles in Dominica: Every year, from March through October, guests of Rosalie Bay Resort in Dominica can experience the exciting event of sea turtle nesting and hatching. During turtle season, three endangered species (Green, Leatherback and Hawksbill) swim from far away lands to the black sand beach and lay their eggs. Guests can schedule daily wake up calls to watch the sea turtles come ashore - a truly amazing sight for spectators of all ages!

    3. Pigs in Bahamas: Did you know that pigs could swim? The famous swimming pigs of Exuma have been attracting worldwide attention and are receiving hundreds of visitors every day! These adorable animals can be found in the crystal blue waters of Big Major Cay and make for some awesome photos. How these friendly creatures originally came to the uninhabited island still remains a mystery, but we’re very glad they made it!

    4. Stingrays in Turks and Caicos: Turn your snorkeling adventure up a notch when you swim with the stingrays in Gibbs Cay (Stringray City), Turks and Caicos. Take a boat ride 1 mile away from the eastern coast of Grand Turk and be amazed as the stingrays swim up to greet you. Don’t be nervous! These impressive sea creatures have grown up around humans and are extremely friendly. Visitors are encouraged to feed them and snorkel close by for an unforgettable experience.
